100 Word Challenge

This week our prompt for our 100 word challenge was ....it felt like.... We had to use these words in our story. Here are some of our 100 word challenges.

Dear Dumb Dairy, It all started when… One cold evening I went for a walk down to the closets shop. Mum told me I can spend five dollars. When I got to the shop, there was a big long line. I went to get me a drink and then a man came up to me and said, " DO YOU HAVE SOME MONEY". I was so scared, I said nothing to him. He asked me again, I went quickly into the line to pay for my drink. When I payed for it, I open it and I drank it. My drink felt like fizzy coming down my throat.

Hot air balloon ride.

Last week we wrote stories about if we went for a ride in a hot air balloon. We then coloured a picture of a hot air balloon from coLAR and then brought it too life with the app and had a buddy video it. After that we stood in front of the green screen and recorded our story. We then put together. Take a look at Keira's and Jeannie's.

Our trips

This week we had to think about a country we would like to visit and find some activities that we could do if we visited that place. We then got a buddy to video us in front of the green screen and we shared what we could do in the country. We then inserted an image behind it. Take a look at Callaghan's and Alex's.

Thinking about thinking Habit of the mind.

One of our habits of the mind this term is 'thinking about thinking'. Watch this video to gain an understanding of this habit. Using the Padlet post a note to tell us how you show/ use thinking about thinking.

Day in the trench

Sentences

We are sentence crazy in Room 2!
Have you remembered your capital letters and punctuation?

Miss Thiele made a quiz to test out our knowledge.

We had lots of fun!

Perseverance Cup

Way to go Keira! for a second time
You really deserve winning the perseverance cup because you come to school ready to learn and give everything a go!

Museum

Family treasures!

We saw lots of old and special families treasures at the museum. We had to go on a hunt with clues to find different treasures located around the museum.

We are now going to think about what our own family treasures are.

Do you have a family treasure?

Our team member this week is Payton. Well done, Payton!

Football

Thanks Matt for giving us the opportunity to learn some new football skills. We played some fun games and then played a game of football against each other.

It is really important to defend the ball from the opposite team.

The way to "bee" in Room 2

As a class, we came up with 6 ways to bee in room two. We all agreed to these so we added our bumblebee craft around our expectations.

Be confident, be respectful, be prepared to learn, be a listener, be your best, be positive an   happy.

Woohoo!

Miss Thiele's stickers have arrived in the mail. Now she is ready to mark our handwriting!

Jeannie's Winning!

During the holidays, Jeannie was a busy bee reading books for the library competition. On Wednesday, two people from the library came to our classroom to present Jeannie with her winning. She won a samsung tablet for reading! WOW!

We all want to visit the library and read books now!

Well done, Jeannie!

T1W2 Reflection

What: This week in Room 2 we started cutting out our laminated bees for our classroom success-o-meter. We drew symmetry names and then coloured them in bright colours to make them look amazing. We wrote letters to ourselves for us to read at the end of the year.

So What: We learnt how to draw our names on angles. We learnt how to carefully cut laminated paper.

Now What: Next week we are going to try hard to finish our work on time.

New Classroom!

We have finally moved back into our classroom - except it looks very different!! The walls are brightly coloured, the carpet is nice and comfy, it smells like fresh paint and the furniture is arranged in different ways.

This is what Carlton calls a modern learning environment!

"Light it up!"

Challenge: can you make the light bulb go?

This group was the first to get the light bulb to light up. This photo doesn't show the excitement when it first lit up - the neighbours would have heard them squeal!

This group managed to keep the lightbulb going without any hands! How clever!

Running, running and more running!

The senior team had been working really hard on our fitness in preparation for the cross country. Last week, the day everyone was anxiously waiting for arrived. We sat in our houses, and in our age groups, to cheer on each race. Man was it noisy! We had lots of whanau and parent come to support us.

Miss Thiele was proud of us for giving the cross country a really good nudge!

Well done Maz for winning the 8 year old girls race!

Daffodil Day

We were allowed to wear our slippers to school in support of Daffodil Day. As a school, we raised over $200 for the cancer society! Go US!

Gymtastic!!

Over the last 4 weeks Room 2 has been going to the gym. We have learnt how to land safely on our feet, how to forward and backwards roll, and how to do a cartwheel.

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our parents and whanau who helped us walk to and back from the gym and also assisted us at the gym. The children are so lucky to have such supportive parents and whanau!

See that reflection in the water...

Check out some of reflection artwork. we had to cut out coloured bits of paper and place them on our backgrounds. We had to make sure everything in our reflection was identical.

Get into the Spirit!
